THE LOGO
The overall look of your new logo is clean and modern. It gives an
immediate sense of proud professionalism with comfortable spacing
and balance. This brand has a serious presence with a classic bold
appeal that boasts longevity.
THE WORDMARK
The typeface chosen for the main wordmark, “WORLD” is a custom
rendering with bold and open features. Letter forms are positioned
balanced with a sturdy stroke width. This nods to the grounded
confidence of World Selections.
The secondary wordmark, “SELECTIONS” is spaced evenly below the
main wordmark and sized comfortably with open and rounded letter
forms. This helps to tie into the idea of a wide array of selections
offered from various locations around the world. Together creating one
cohesive brand identity.
Both wordmarks contain perfect circular letter forms. The ancient
Greeks considered the circle the most perfect of all shapes. It is the
universal symbol of unity and infinity. They represent totality,
wholeness, eternity, and timelessness. Circles are the givers of life with
a cycle of healing, new beginnings, and connection with others.
Representing a circle of friends, a global community, and being part of
an inclusive circle of trust.
THE ICON
Your icon is symmetrical and solid. It is iconic, balanced and stable. The
overall shape fits within a perfect square with a simple concept, yet
packed with meaning. The letter “W” is also recognizable without being
too literal.
Several shapes are represented throughout your new icon. Squares are
stable and encourage permanent structures. They are seen as a symbol
of civilization and building something great. Triangles or arrows are
also present and represent growth, forward and upward movement
with strong ties to adventure, forging new paths and trying new things.
A perfect circle can be found in the center square bringing home the
idea of locating popular and exclusive strains from across the world
that are hidden or difficult to attain.
People may see a variety of things within the graphic elements present.
Lines are woven, crossing paths and changing direction. This creates a
structured network representing supply and demand, seeking out new
strains in various locations, and ultimately travel. Historically, old world
folklore, cultural beliefs, histories, politics, and other messages were
communicated through woven fabric and wicker textiles. Twining and
weaving were a vehicle for visual storytelling and making connections.
One may also see the front sail on a large ship signaling travel to new
lands and the international export or import of products. This speaks to
the cultured nature of World Selections and the vast possibilities.
THE COLORS
The colors chosen for your new brand are confident and professional.
The bold, rich black combined with a bright, slate royal blue suggest an
organization that is successful, hardworking, and a grounded leader in
their industry.
Black is the color of strength, power, professionalism, luxury, authority,
and elegance. It is a sign of sophistication, accuracy and depth of
character. Across multiple countries and time periods old stories of
knights, ninjas and other masked characters use black dress to conceal
true identities and help the hero to victory. For purposes of the World
Selections brand, black represents an adventure or a hero of sorts
seeking out and delivering new options to allow greater selections and
in turn, better experiences for the consumer.
Further, men and women in positions of power often wore black and
still do to this day. In the past it was extremely difficult to dye fabrics
black and have the color be even. Thus, black cloth was expensive to
make, so only people with power and money were able to afford black
clothes. This speaks to the elite nature of World Selections.
People associate blue with clear skies and crystal seas. Flags, sports
teams, and uniforms often use blue to symbolize unity and power.
Symbolically, the color blue represents clear thinking, thoughtfulness,
control, calm, and cleanliness. It conveys a sense of trust, responsibility
and truthfulness. Blue is associated with good communication and
organization, representing meanings of depth, loyalty, sincerity,
wisdom, confidence, stability, order, and intelligence.
Blue is the favored color around the world with a fascinating history. In
all countries and cultures, blue dye and pigments were extremely
expensive to produce and quickly became synonymous with the
wealthy and those of noble decent. Only the most important paintings,
textiles and pottery were rendered using blue tones. For example, the
Virgin Mary would typically be depicted wearing blue as she was
considered an elite entity. The color blue then also became associated
with purity, humility, and the divine.
In addition, artists would have to grind up precious imported stones to
make these ultramarine shades. The name comes from the Latin
ultramarinus, meaning “beyond the sea”. Thus, this blue color ties in
nicely with the idea of traveling beyond the sea to bring old world
selections to our Western market bringing home the idea of World
Selections as an elite class with desirable products.
